Sorry...

That I haven't posted here, I'm a big schmuck. But I've been a busy schmuck writing and editing. In fact, I finished my novella for EC today, which is linked to the first book I sold to them. I hope my editor likes it. Eeek! It ended up at right about 23,500.

So many projects to work on next, don't know which one to start first. Sigh...

Hope everyone else's progress is moving along. :)

Racing Emma

Yesterday was much less productive than I'd hoped, sadly.

Today has to be the day. I saw my husband and oldest son off to Rocket Camp in the wee hours and, aside from feeding the young'uns and making sure they don't kill each other, I don't have any major commitments. (I do have to prep to teach Sunday School tomorrow, but that shouldn't take more than an hour, tops.) So, basically, this is my day to write like a fiend.

I'm not going to commit to a word count goal, though. I'm just going to write until I'm spent.

Emma and I are almost at the same word count, but I have farther to go to reach The End. But I think the race is on anyway :)!

Here we go...

This is my post from October 31st and for some reason I forgot to publish it. Le sigh. Okay so today is November 3rd @ 12:16am and I am at 17155. My original word count was 17k but I've gone past that and this book is only about 2/4ths done. Le sigh. Le sigh. Super, super le sigh.

So since the 27th I've written a total of 4515, an average of 645 a day. 5 workd under my goal.

Today: I wrote 2350.

I'll check in tomorrow.

So I'm thinking the projected word count may be 25k. We'll see.

It's 11:02pm on October 31st. A day after I was supposed to check in.

My word count right now is 14,779. I started at 12,641. So it's a total of 2138 an average of 534 words per day. Le sigh. Come on Emma. Get it together. Tomorow I'm logging off of the internet. If I was brave enough (which I'm totally not) I would uninstall Yahoo i.m.

Instead I'm going to follow my own damn advice and get some discipline. If I can do it with one of my great loves (food) I have do it with the love of my life, writing.

Wish me luck. Call me names. Harrass me. Any little thing helps.

Felled by the Flu

Well, I'm glad I didn't say I'd tackle NaNo this year and that I'd finished The Vampire Oracle: Chalice earlier this week, because on Tuesday, my 'baby' came home from preschool saying "I don't feel well". By the afternoon he was puking...in short order all the kids fell victim and then the worst of the worst happened. I caught it!

Unlike the kids...I can't just lie on the couch and watch TV, make messes, and have someone else take care of me. My husband came home from work early one day (which was nice) and left late for work the last two mornings so that I could stumble my way through the haze of the virus.

I'm finally pinging at about 70%... thus, I have written nothing, nada, in three days.

Creepy, Crawly, Little Writer

A measly 150 words. But yesterday was a way worse cluster fuck than I anticipated. Today should be better. Most of the errands are done.

I'm shooting for 1,000 words today so I can cross the 18,000 word mark and, I think finally get to the really fun stuff. I can do it!

What Page Seventeen Looks Like

I'm posting this for shits and grins. I hope everyone had a good first Nano day! This is what page seventeen looks like (written about hour six or so). I'm going for another 4k today (if the boss is out)

Swear ‘ta Gawd he did it because he knew it lit my ass up. I chrewed on a couple of greasy fries, tehn studied my watch, making him wait for my response. “About thirty more minutes. Why? What’cha got in mind?” Smiling innocently, I sipped at my iced tea and watched the wind ruffle Cash’s hair.
He smoothed his fingers donw his chin,w hich was clean-shaven, and shrugged, turning his attention back to his lunch. Once he was done and stood up to throw his trash away, I tried again. “SO what’s for dinner, Boss.”

He ignored me, until he came back that is. “Graciellas.”

I whistled appreciatively. Graceillas was the best Mexican food in Galvestone.

“Interested?”

“You mea, like a date?” I stood up, piling my own trash on my tray.

“No. I just don’t like eating alone. And you’re the only person I know around here besides Reece.”

“And James.” Giggling I jabbed a free thumb to where he sta still talking on the phone.

More NaNo Words

Here's the current word meter:

I think I need to lie down now.

No writing over the weekend for me.

Have a good one!

Inching Along

The past couple of days haven't even been "typically" productive. And the next two don't promise to be either since, as usual, my husband and I waited to the last minute to plan tomorrow night's Cub Scout Pack Meeting (he's the Cubmaster) and of course, it can't be anything simple, but something that requires us (which realistically means me) to run around picking up this thing and that thing and then a ton of assembly/preparation.

And then yesterday was Halloween, which took a chunk out of my writing time as well. Oh, and I also have to help my husband and son get ready to leave at the buttcrack of dawn on Saturday morning for Rocket Camp in the desert, which means making sure they have food, camping gear, etc.

Le sigh!

So, here's the wordmeter for Carnally Yours as of last night:

Given what's on my plate today (errands, office for meetings, more errands, picking up kids from school, getting my son to build his rocket, cook dinner, help husband assemble stuff for the Pack Meeting, cry, etc.), I am not going to give myself a goal of more than I usually accomplish in an average day. So, that's 500 words.

Wish me luck. I'm pretty sure I'll need it!

Ralph

"Finish every day and be done with it...You have done with you could; some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin it...serenely, and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense."
---Ralph Waldo Emerson

I like that and thought I'd share. I don't remember how many pages I had when I checked in last but I'm at 81. I've GOT to go ahead and start the second novella--in hopes that 2 and 3 will help me wrap up 1. Plus it's a nice spot to start Nano.

I'm shooting for ten and beginnings are easy for me so it should be fun. I'll check in before I Leave work today and happy writing everyone!

It's on!

And I got off to a great start. I think it was a good idea to take yesterday off writing. Sure, I did other writing-related stuff, but nothing that involved new words.

Today was another story. And here's my first NaNo progress bar:

Yeah, I know we're supposed to do 50k during November but I'm aiming for 60k!

Have a good day everyone!

Another Day, Another Goal

Thus sits the wordmeter for Carnally Yours:

It's better, but nowhere near where it needs to be if I'm to finish by Sunday. So, today's goal shall be 2,500 words. Yesterday, I was able to do half that. I'm not exactly optimistic about achieving that, but I'm going to shoot for the stars. Even though I didn't make my 2,200 words yesterday, I did roughly doubt my typical day's output, so pushing myself seems to work better than not.

Wish me luck!

I'm probably nuts!

Yeah, I think I'm crazy and possibly mentally exhausted... but I finished the first draft of the story I got stuck into yesterday.

The first draft is done:

I think I'll take tomorrow off and then get started on NaNoWriMo on Thursday. :/

Who else is taking part in NaNo this year?

InDEED!

Indeed I must get crackin' too! In a big way. This weekend was the wash I knew it would be though I did get like 2 pages *sob*
Tomorrow I"m off all day so if I"m not too doped in teh afternoon I might get a few more pages done. Wednesday is going to have to be a 15-20 page day (that's 3750-5000 for you word counters out there). I MUST finish this first novella by Wednesday and I really feel like I'm close. That'll give me 2 *gulp* weeks to write the second and 2 to write the third and 2 weeks to edit the entire thing *sob*

Ok off I go

Must.Get.Crackin'

Like Emma, I've got to buckle down and finish up this week. (Yolanda, could you send me your muse, please? She's FAST!)

There was no writing Friday through Sunday. (Friday we went to Disneyland, Saturday we hung out at the Science Center and went out to dinner, and Sunday was church followed by the Chargers game following by serious vegging--so I forgive myself.) But the kids went back to school today and although I must also do some paying work, it is absolutely essential that I finish the first draft of Carnally Yours by Sunday, November 4 so I can give myself a full month to get Unbridled ready for the Golden Heart.

So, here's the word meter:

I was up to 15,600, but then I realized the scene was in entirely the wrong point of view, so I scrapped it. Assuming my projected word count is correct (and it should be within a few thousand words one way or the other), this means I need to crank out roughly 2,200 words per day.

Yikes! I'm never that fast. But I have to try...

I wasn't supposed to be writing anything new...

but the muse had different ideas about that statement.

So, early this morning I picked up a story which was sitting at 1,500 words. It wants to be written. Right now. When I wanted to take three days off before my NaNoWriMo novel. Yeah, that bloody muse. ;)

Anyway, for someone who wasn't supposed to be writing any new words today, here's the progress meter:

Um, I've got about half an hour before I need to go get my daughter from school. So I'm gonna go back and add some more words. :/

Have a good one!
