Well -- today was a total bust when it came to writing. I had hopes that with my hubby gone I would have *lots* of spare time. Instead...my daughter's soccer game ran late and the boys have been hellions (to put it mildly!) In other words, s-t-r-e-s-s city! Hubby has promised to be back as early as possible tomorrow, perhaps noon (okay, I know him too well, if he gets here before 6 pm, I'll be surprised!).
So, I decided to just do writing "related" stuff today. I played solitaire (snicker)...proofread a story for Dark Eden Press, submitted a story, *thought* about updating my website, surfed the internet...and discovered Duotrope's Digest. It's a publication resource with TONS of information. It has submission guidelines, a publication search engine to find new and exciting publishers, actual response times -- and percentages if there's enough data, and a cool submissions tracker. So, I entered all of my 2006-2007 submissions (short stories and novellas). You can find this nifty resource at: http://www.duotrope.com/index.aspx
Tomorrow is update the website day (and boy, does it need it) and try to get in a few words --
And, I have claimed Monday as a writing day...

Doing what I gotta do...
Last check in was November 8th at 11:30pm.
11/09 (24)
11/10 (24)
48 hours have passed since my last check in. I had a tiny melt down but I put on my big girl panties and did what I had to do. I've been telling myself it comes how bad I want it. Well I want it more than a chubby kid at a fat camp wants a Snickers. (Mmmm...Snickers)
Anywho lets get to it. The New Life project hasnt moved as much as the Untitled project but here are the numbers.
Started off with New Life at 1849 and I'm now at 2032 for a total of 183.
New Life

Started off the Untitled project at 756 and I'm now at 4012 for a total of 3256.
Untitled

3256 + 183 = 3439
An average of 1720 per day. Whew! I'm gonna sleep a little while and get back to it in a couple of hours.
Ooh you may have seen the word count has changed for the Untitled project, right now I don't know that word count is going to be so it may change from time to time. I need to get the story done by the 14th no later than 15th so I could get it polished and submitted by the 17th.

Progress on a Saturday!
Yeah, I don't write on Saturdays, but since this week's been a little wonky... I thought I'd write until the lappy ran out of juice.
So here's the updated word meter:
So here's the updated word meter:
Although I'm not halfway through on the 60k I want to reach, I am technically halfway through the NaNo 50k! Yay. Can't wait to see how the word meter changes next week...
Happy weekend everyone!
TGIF (am I the only one writing today?)

3,793 / 20,001 (19.0%) |
Troddled off to the library today and got a nice burst of writing in (as well as checking out a few books to read). I was originally aiming for about 16500 words but after tackling this next scene, realized it's probably going to be a little longer than that -- maybe 20K. So, I adjusted my widget for that.

Woot, woot
I'm going to try out that little word widget-thingy...
Hey, cool. It works!
This is my first time-travel (with some alternative history elements worked in). Has anyone else ever written a time travel or even read lots of them. I think I've only read a couple and can't pull up any names to save my soul. I'm wondering if there are any rules I need to know about it? Or maybe it's good to not know the rules and just write away...

Meter Code
Since I see both Ericka and QB are looking for it, the code for creating the wordmeters that Yolanda, Emma, and I have been using looks like this:
img src="http://picometer.writertopia.com/words=20000&target=30000" /Just enclose the whole thing in those nifty little tag brackets and you're good to go! Sorry the spacing is goofy on the screen--it's all one line in HTML.
Chugging Along
Two-thirds of the way feels like a milestone. It's all downhill from here, right?
I was going to give myself a goal of 1,000 words today, but I have three parent-teacher conferences this afternoon. And stuff to go into the office and do (which I blew off yesterday). Gah!
Ah well, I writes what I can write!

It's like crack...
So I have NEVER started a story right after finishing one. But not only did I start another story, I've started two. That's right folks, writing has become my crack.
New Life

I started off with New Life at 1106 so I wrote a total of 743.
I started at 9 with the new untitled project so I wrote a total of 756.
Total = 1499

It's Progress Anyway....
Sometimes I wonder why I outline.
I've been working on the "snowflake" (see Randy Ingermanson if you want to know how to use his method to outline a book) for a time travel. It's set locally, although I've changed all the places and names to protect the guilty (and keep from getting sued).
So, after 6 days of tinkering with the outline and working out plot points in my head, I picked a title. Mojave Moon.
Then, I put my fingers on the keyboard and started to write. At the end of the heroine's first scene, I have a huge sonic boom and "flash" my heroine shoots 65 years into the past. Oh! Wait...the hero was supposed to come forward in time. So...I rewrote the scene...sonic boom, heroine shoots 65 years into the past. Shit.... Oh, well, wait...
Immediately the entire story line jumped into my head ~ there's still a few little gaps, minor details, and the clincher -- it's bloody backwards and now I have to do lots more research.
Le sigh.
So, word count is at 797 -- doesn't seem like much for all that work~

What a Bust
Hey Emma congrats on finishing! My weekend was pretty much a bust. I got 2k done and that's it. No writing sunday. The freaking cable guy was here 12 hours.
Thank God he was cute!
Monday and Tuesday I pissed my days away with only a few pages here or there. Today I'm off, and seriously need to crank out about 4-5k. That means I've got 16 pages or so to go and I better get my ass in gear. Once the kids get home it's all a wash!

At 25,115 words ROP is DONE! Sweet Jebus typing the end was better than an O. Okay, so it wasn't better than an O but it was a pretty close four hundredth.
This story pushed every boundary I had and features my very first semi what what scene.
So let's do a count, from the last time I checked in on the Tuesday the 6th at 2:49 am I have done a total of 2921 words. *faints*
So from October 31st, I've written a total of 10,336 an average of 1477 per day.
Whew. Go me! So I get 24 hours from the time this is posted to rest and recuperate before I hit the next story! Hope everyone else is out there rocking!

The Meter Moved
I have to go into the office again today, so I'm not expecting big things today, but I do think I can finish off the scene I stopped in the middle of last night and get to the nasty before I knock off for the night. At least another 500 words, that's my goal.
The only thing that's worrying me now is that at this rate, I won't finish until the middle of next week. I might have to start replotting/reworking Unbridled before I'm done. Which would suck.
/Sigh

Back on the NaNo track...
I didn't write a single word yesterday. The hubby was home, so we had a lovely day together.
Got back into my novel today:
Got back into my novel today:
Stopped in a good place. Looking forward to going back there tomorrow. ;)
So very, very, very close!
I have 2806 words left. So close and yet so far. I should be done by tomorrow if I get up early enough and then it's edit time.
This story has pushed me in every way imaginable but I'd like to think I'm a better writer for it. :-)
Last time I checked in on Sunday, November 4th I was at 18753 so I've written a total of 3441 so that 2 almost 3k should be snap! Go Emma! It's your birthday! Go Emma

No Writing
I decided to go on strike with the Writer's Guild.
Okay, seriously, I did actually write a lot. I got my Manuscript Mavens post for tomorrow out of the way, got Deanna's post for the Mavens up and ready to go on Friday (she's guesting), and posted to Jackie's blog (check out my itty-bitty little contest). Oh, and I interviewed for (and was offered and accepted) a little job as a Cobblestone editor :).
In other words, I was a busy little bee. I just didn't write my book today.
But, I'm ahead of the game for tomorrow, because I don't have any of that bloggy stuff to do. So here's to progress tomorrow.

It's Monday here in Sydney!
A yucky, rainy and cold Moday... hell, it's supposed to be Spring. :/
Anyway. On a better note, I got back into the NaNo swing of things today.
I'm now up to:

And I'm very happy with how the story's turning out. It's all pouring out of me quite quickly at the moment. Not sure if it'll all slow down soon. But for now, this is very cool.
I'm also lovin' my Playlist for this book.
As long as I write 3-4k every day this week, I'm happy. :)
Now for a little fun:
| There's a 36% Chance You've Been Abducted By Aliens |
Even though you have a few alien abduction signs, you're almost certainly in the clear. However, if aliens ever do come to your neck of the woods... they'll probably be coming for you! |

Success and Pushing On
I finally had a good day:

I'm not happy with everything I wrote, but at least the story's headed in the right direction.
I was hoping to get another thousand or so words in this morning, but it's looking pretty unlikely with all the other stuff on my plate. If I'm very lucky, I might manage a few hundred words. But any words are better than no words.
See you tomorrow!

Keep it moving...
I hate this story.
Okay. So maybe I don't hate it, hate it. But it's on my list.
So I started with 17155 and ended with 18753. A total of 1598 not including the huge chunk I cut because it was a little...I could say vulgar but I'm not exactly un-okay with vulgar so I'll just say it was unnecessary and didnt move the story along.
I haven't been to sleep yet. So I'm going to sleep until about 10 or 11 amd get to it. I'll check in by midnight and hopefully this damn thing will be done.
